On page 4 of the September 16, 1899 edition of The True Republican, a school holiday was announced to take place on September 22, 1899 to allow students to attend the dedication of The Northern Illinois Normal School.
The Northern Illinois Normal School would eventually be named Northern Illinois University (NIU).
The Browne school students would be part of the Milan township group of schools participating in a procession preceding the dedication.
