1929 - Milan township, DeKalb county, Illinois plat map

The Milan township plat map was updated in 1929.    The previous plat map was in 1905.   If one exists between 1905 and 1929 I have not come across it.

The Browne school is located in the upper right hand corner, Section 1.   The property surrounding the Browne school was transferred from Cornelius O’Brien to his son Dan O'Brien.

The property across the road from the Browne school in Section 11 owned by John Theron Brown had lost the 'e' at the end of Browne since the 1905 plat map.     John Brown's cousin, Lester John Browne kept the 'e' at the end of Browne.    Lester was the son of Mary Jane (L'Hommedieu) and Nathaniel Browne.    Nathaniel Browne was the brother of William Browne, the father of John Theron Brown.

This map would have been printed before the crash of the stock market of October 29, 1929, otherwise known as The Great Depression.    The plat map of future years will change dramatically as ownership of properties changed due to the economic collapse caused by The Great Depression.
