September 14, 1912 - School Consolidation, DeKalb County, Illinois

Since the concept of consolidating DeKalb county schools over 10 years ago was addressed by the Illinois state superintendent, the county of DeKalb was chosen to be the first to implement the plan.   The rural schools of Paw Paw township were combined into one school.     The remaining schools would eventually see a change from a Township School District school to the DeKalb County School District.    For example, the Browne school was known as the Milan Township District #1 which would eventually be consolidated into the DeKalb County School District.  The Browne school would be identified as #80.

I have not been able to confirm the date the Browne school was merged into the DeKalb County School District, though I have been able to verify it would be in the next few years.
